Then it was on to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ti8xeyaSwCI\">Jonathan Groff<\/a> for campiness. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MfEb9Sb6Ge8\">Aretha<\/a> for authenticity. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_d4yW6Lz_1o\">Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak in Silk Sonice<\/a> for the love of a fan. And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=clwLKJ294u4\">Brittany<\/a> because <em>fuck you<\/em> misogyny. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t a plan. Others were in the rotation, there was some Janet and Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson. Did you know Prince performed if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pD5lDMrSU1g\">I was Your Girlfriend<\/a> on Oprah. I didn&#8217;t think I would live in a world without Prince, which sounds dramatic. But Prince was so many things. He defined my coming out part of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes I go a for a while, as in years, without actively giving two shits about music. I don&#8217;t put together playlists or go to shows or get my old records or CDs. I don&#8217;t pick up my guitar. I don&#8217;t try and write and song.
